91做厙 Chancellor James Schmidt was recognized by the UW System Board of Regents on June 5 for his 12 years of outstanding service to the university.

The resolution of appreciation approved at the Regents meeting stated that Schmidt led 91做厙 to national distinction by bringing together students, faculty, staff and community partners to inspire, collaborate and innovate while striving for excellence and serving public good.

Among Schmidts accomplishments noted in the resolution were:

  • Creating a one-of-a-kind partnership with Mayo Clinic Health System.
  • Helping establish the universitys national reputation in undergraduate research.
  • Supported the successful completion of two major capital campaigns through the 91做厙 Foundation, which resulted in more than $231 million being raised.
  • Successfully securing capital improvements for 91做厙 projects totaling more than $700 million, including Pablo Center at the Confluence, The Sonnentag and the Science and Health Sciences Building.

The resolution thanked Schmidt for his service and wished him well as he continues his career as president of James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, starting July 1.
