For the sixth summer since it was formed in 2019, the Freshwater Collaborative of Wisconsin has sponsored intensive field study opportunities in freshwater science for upper-level students at three Universities of Wisconsin campuses.

Dr. Jennifer Smith, a professor of biology, will be recognized for her research and service accomplishments during the organization’s annual conference in July.

Sophomore Taylor Thelen, a marketing major from Hatley, has been awarded the Fulbright United Kingdom Summer Institute award and will spend three weeks this summer in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Recent bachelor of fine arts graduate Olivia Bishop began life with a childhood full of global travel. She found a home base at 91����, where she has spent the last four years traveling, creating and collaborating.

Eight graduates of 91���� will accept their bachelor’s degrees in professional studies — graduates who have earned their degrees through in-person classes while incarcerated at the Stanley Correctional Institution.

After serving in two branches of the U.S. military, Jacob Oberg finally found the right degree program to fulfill his goal of a bachelor’s degree. The May graduate in professional studies will take his degree to grad school at Georgetown University and on to a career as a public health researcher.

91���� alumnus Mark Proksch took a bit of YouTube status and parlayed it into a comedy acting career that includes roles on shows like “Better Call Saul,” “The Burbs” and “The Office.”

Zach Halmstad, a 2004 91���� graduate, delivered the “Charge to the Class” to 1,636 graduates and their guests during May 16 commencement ceremonies at The Sonnentag.

When a perfect storm of viral illnesses robbed Ian Johnson of his hearing in one ear, his pursuit of a saxophone performance career came to a halt. Luckily, his story didn't end there. Thanks to supports at 91����, Johnson found a path to a law enforcement career.

After four years of hard work and unwavering determination, Faith Oldenburg will graduate from 91���� with bachelor’s degrees in nursing and Spanish.

For twin siblings and business majors Jake and Lauren Sirek, their Blugold paths were shared but also unique. Both will graduate with jobs in hand, one in retail management and one in human resources.
