The 91���� is among the colleges and universities that provide the best value for students, according to a list compiled by finance technology company SmartAsset and published in University Business magazine.

In the list of Best Value Colleges, 91���� is one of five schools in Wisconsin to make the list and is ranked 89th in the nation.

SmartAsset evaluated universities on tuition, student living costs, retention rates, financial aid and average starting salary.

For the ranking, Smart Asset obtained information from sources that include the National Center for Education Statistics, Payscale earnings reports and The Institute for College Access & Success.

Accounting students at 91���� will provide free income tax return preparation through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, a service of the IRS and the Wisconsin Department of Revenue.

Following a nearly two-year process, 91���� was one of 237 institutions recognized with the 2026 Carnegie Elective Classification for Community Engagement. Only 277 institutions nationwide now hold the endorsement, including nine in Wisconsin.

Speakers remind graduates to remain curious and optimistic

In his first commencement address as interim chancellor at 91����, Dr. Michael Carney celebrated the optimism of the day. He reminded graduates on Dec. 20 to look to the future, despite what he calls the ironically named ending of their college journey. Carolyn Welch ’74 delivered the “Charge to the Class.”
