Scholarships are a great way to both decrease the required payment for each academic year and also look great on a resume. The designated amounts for these scholarships vary from year to year.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
 

  • Candidates preferably would be junior, senior, or graduate students. Nontraditional aged students, returning to school after an interruption in their education, are preferred.
  • Preference for students planning a career in social work, psychology, nursing, or other helping professions with career plans involving counseling or recovery efforts for people with problems with alcohol, substance abuse or eating disorders.
  • Candidates must be in good academic standing to be eligible for the award, with indications of a promising and successful career in counseling.
  • Preference for students showing financial need.

*Scholarship recipients may apply for award renewal by submitting an application in subsequent years.

SELECTION PROCEDURE:
Recipients of the E. Louise Carter Scholarship will be reviewed by the Selection Committee, chaired by Riley McGrath, Director of Counseling Services, based upon the noted criteria above.

NOTIFICATION:
The recipient will receive written notification by the chair of the Selection Committee, Riley McGrath, Director of Counseling Services.

SPECIAL NOTES:
James C. Carter has established the E. Louise Carter Scholarship in honor of his mother. The recipients are highly encouraged to send a thank you letter highlighting their career plans and goals to James C. Carter, E. Louise Carter Scholarship, in care of the 91 Foundation Office, Schofield 216.
