Wisconsin's Sex Offender Registry is maintained by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections Sex Offender Registration Program, otherwise known as "SORP". Wisconsin Act 440 (June 1, 1997) allows for the collection and dissemination of information related to certain sex offenders.

On October 28, 2000, the United States legislature enacted the "Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act". This act provides for the tracking of convicted sex offenders that are enrolled, employed or volunteering at any institution of higher learning.

All information related to the registry is available to law enforcement agencies. Certain information is also available to victims, neighborhood groups, and the general public.
