Quick Start Guide

Before using any AI tool:

1. Review the AI Guidance to understand university requirements for procurement and university data usage.
2. If you’d like to use a gen AI tool that has not been approved, follow the Guidelines for Conditional Use.
3. Contact ltsconsulting@uwec.edu if you need guidance.

Key reminders:

• Never input personal, confidential, or sensitive information into public AI tools.
• All AI tool purchases must go through proper procurement processes
• If a tool requires installation, email ltsconsulting@uwec.edu for guidance.

Procurement & Usage of AI Related Technologies

AI related technologies that are to be used at the 91°µÍø should be reviewed by Learning & Technology Services and 91°µÍø Procurement in order (1) to properly verify the end user license agreement allows for legal usage of the product by a public institution, (2) to verify the data being used by the AI product is being securely used and stored, and (3) to verify the AI product is properly obtained, licensed, and/or procured. 

If a faculty, staff, or student is interested in using AI technologies as a part of curriculum, research, or operations at 91°µÍø, an email to ltsconsulting@uwec.edu will start the legal and information security review of the requested AI technology.

Best Practices for Generative AI in Curriculum

If a faculty or educator is interested in learning more about best practices associated with the usage of gen AI technologies in curriculum, the Center for Excellence in Teaching & Learning (CETL) offers consultations. Email cetl@uwec.edu or visit VLL 1142 for more information.
